Workshop on International, National, and Legal Dimensions of the Kurdish Cause in Syria

Participation in the workshop is open only to jurists

Based on the historical responsibility of Kurdish jurists towards Kurds and the Kurdish cause at this critical stage, Yasa, the Kurdish Center for Legal Studies and Consultancy, invites Kurdish jurists to participate in a workshop on International, National, and Legal Dimensions of the Kurdish Cause in Syria on January 19, 2013 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm in Bonn, Germany.

Say NO to the Escalation of Violence in Syria

Demonstration in Bonn in Solidarity with Syrian People to Stop Violence in Syria. More than 34, 000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in Syria. The ongoing violence has forced more than 500,000 to flee to neighboring countries since the uprising against the regime of Bashar al-Assad. A further 2.5 million Syrians displaced domestically, according to UN estimates. Every day more than 150 people are being killed, mostly women and children, as a result of shelling, explosions and fierce clashes between Syrian opposition fighters and Syrian government forces.

The humanitarian situation in Syria has recently deteriorated as a result of the unstoppable escalation of violence, forcing more than 400,000 people to flee to neighboring countries (Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq) since the uprising began on March 2011. A further 2.5 million Syrians displaced domestically, according to UN estimates.

YASA takes part in the Ljubljana Human Rights Summit 2012

The Ljubljana Human Rights Conference dubbed "The Syria Crisis and the Responsibility to Protect" was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia on 30 October 2012. The conference was attended by representatives of the Slovenian government, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), human rights activists, politicians and academics. Held at the National Council in Ljubljana, the Ljubljana Conference was organized by the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) from Berlin in cooperation with the Slovenian Government and MEP Milan Zver.
